When you buy a computer—whether new or used—it's worth understanding the components it contains. The heart of your system is the processor, usually from Intel or AMD these days. It's not just about pure speed, but especially the number of cores: While a dual-core processor is perfectly sufficient for standard tasks like office applications, you should opt for a multi-core processor for more demanding tasks like graphics editing.

RAM is just as important: For modern operating systems like Windows 10 or 11, we recommend at least 8 GB of DDR4 RAM—less can quickly lead to noticeable performance degradation. If you work with large files or use multiple applications simultaneously, 16 GB or more is advisable. Keep in mind the possibility of expanding later, especially if you take advantage of a particularly good deal.

The motherboard forms the foundation of your system. Here, you should pay particular attention to compatibility: Does the processor socket fit your CPU? Are there any free slots for future expansion?
